Im ditchinmg my 780i board and going back to an Intel chipset so waving bye bye to my 8800 GTX OC2 SLI set up :(

I game at 1920 x 1200 on a 24" montor - am i better off with a 4870 or 4850 for this res (i assume that the ATI offers more and better value for money than NV ATM ?)

Initially looking at a single card, but "may" go crossfire at a later date

Any thoughts ?

Cheers

wow, that was quick :)

Does the 1024 version offer a significantly better performance than the 512 version ?

Do you mind if I ask why you are changing the motherboard?

The only single card setup that will be faster than your 8800gtx sli is a 4870x2, and even then I don't think the difference would be huge.

Because the 780i has given me nothing but grief since I bought it and has just today finally packed in :|

This is only my second Nfarce chipset and im now firmly staying with Intel Chipsets TBH.
