Basically, I assumed that when my card was at load it would be getting very hot (heard a lot to suggest this), however with the it currently at;

core - 650
shaders - 1620
memory - 2000

The temps haven't gone above 65 (standard air cooler). How much further do you think I can go?

What sort of max/average overclocks are you all getting on your 8800GTXs?

Cheers

My old Asus 8800GTX managed...
Core - 670
Memory -2000
Shaders - ????

14700 in 3Dmark 06 with Q6600 @3.6Ghz

Just stable enough for 3Dmark 06 :-P but crashed in games =/Knocked the core down to 650 and it was fine.

Edit

This is watercooled, Temps never above 37C at load.

Would you believe I haven't felt the need yet? Will get around to it at some stage I guess - you using rivatuner? What are you using to monitor temps and what are you using to 'load it up'?

Yep using rivatuner to clock it, and rivatuner to monitor the temps. "To load" it I'm using the Crysis GPU benchmark, looped to 25. As I find this puts more stress on the card than playing something like cod4, as the temps are higher.

That's pretty good for stock cooling, my 8800GTX does exactly those clocks but with a HR-03 cooler. You might be able to squeeze more out of it, but who knows? 650/660 is the general limit when it comes to the core, that's the case with people I've spoken to anyway.

Sorry to hijack but related question. I just tried to overclock my 8800gtxs for the first time using the nvidia control panel. i have tri sli setup - Gpuz shows that only one of them overclocked. Will rivatuner automatically oc all of them?

Good to know thanks, my memory what artifacting in 3DMark06 @ 2100, will give 2050 a go :D

My overall is 3DMark06 14106

the nvdia control panel should overclocks all your cards when using ntune.

If my memory is artifacting in 3DMark06 @ 2100 but not in games, then is ok to leave it along?

LOL, tired and failed - shame I think i'll leave it at 2050 for the time being and concentrate on my cpu overclock cheers.

For the small gains involved I'd be much happier with a slightly lower clock that doesn't cause corruptions than a bigger one that does - but that's just me! What jump do you get in the Crysis benchmark from stock to full OC?

I haven't run it yet, as I'm finding the max clocks before i get my 24inch screen :)

However my overlocks give me 1300 extra in 3DMark06. Although I have now lowered my memory a bit and it's fine. I just have to find the max shaders now.

Currently At

650 Core, 1620 Shaders (currently) and 2088 Memory - Under 70C Load

Not bad, mine will do 660 (648 actual)/1620/2050 and no higher otherwise it crashes or artifacts.

On a different note my 8800GTX is a PITA, it keeps overheating to like 70c idle on my after market cooler. Dust is not my friend ..

lol, I hate the way rivatuner works either 648 or 675 on the core, anywasy changing programs is too much bother.

Anyone have any ideas what shaders can usually do?
