8800 GTX squeals when I run ATITool - is this normal????

When I run ATI tool with that little furry cube going round, my BFG 8800GTX OC squeals in sync with the cube rotating. A faint, high pitched, ululating sound that sounds like components freaking out - which they would be I suppose at over 1000 fps, but is that normal??

Its not the fan because I stopped it with my finger. Its like the solid state bits are going mental.

Pretty sure it's normal. It's strange, but I've heard it with quite a few graphics cards.

It's probably your PSU. My brand new BFG 850W has started to squeal when the G/C is drawing power from the PCI 6 pin plugs.

Do you get any screen interference?

If you have any 4 pin to 6 pin converters try those and then run atitool.

Mine has done that before with various ATi cards in ATitool, I think its normal and im fairly sure it doesnt do any damage.

Mine does that also, dont think its anything dangerous.

Are you using any sort of UPS?, could be caused by overloading it.

Thanks for the replies all... there's no screen interference and i'm sure its coming from the card not the psu! I'll give it a go with a convertor though.

hi, i've just got bfg 8800gtx and it squeaks when powering off.
i thought it was on its way out after 1 hour.
but no,,,,
i googled it and it is very normal for this to happen.
don't worry.........

I get the same when I run the first test of 3DMark2003 and it only happens when the framerate is very high.

I remember my 5700 used to do that - wicked card - all red and shiny - i clocked it and it squeeled - i just pretended it was happy.

my 76GT does this quite often. Usually inbetween res changes, upon boot up etc. scary but safe apparently.
