i am having all sorts of trouble playing games with my 8800gtx in vista, explorer, internet, movies have worked fine so far, but any modern games (lost planet, graw 2,world in conflict) just freeze up my whole computer (monitor sometimes goes to sleep when it freezes as well).

Tried system restore, stock clocks, many drivers but no joy.

Im thinking of RMA'ing the card.

What temps is your card running at? I was getting these errors when I was first on Vista, and I fixed it at first by increasing the fan speed. It defaults to 60% constantly (or it did in the early driver releases), Increase it to 90/100% and see if it still does it. You used to have to use rivatunner to set the fan speed since it wasn't built into the drivers, not sure if its in the latest drivers since i've been on water cooling for ages.

Have you checked the "Power Settings" its said Nvidia cards can be kept in 2D mode or speeds lowered or something, if your on a desktop there is no need for any them, turn up to "FULL PERFORM", I only used 20mins for Monitor off anyhow.

im on watercooling, temps never go above 55C, so im sure thats not the issue.

SLi is stetchy in Vista :(, unless I turn it off, the display driver will go into a crash/recovery loop a few times a day.

On a side note, I find it highly amusing that whilst display driver crashes no longer take out the whole system, it just means the driver can crash constantly until you're forced to press restart anyway.

I know I gave you my views on that error being hardware related the other day.. could it be when you disable SLI it disables the potentially faulty card?

Which one is in the top slot?

Switch them round and try again, that'll spot it.

ok, this is gonna sound odd..... but i didnt switch them around, i previously had 2 sli strips, i removed one, so i only have the bfg sli strip between the cards.... and it seems fine lol

been working most of the day now, ill see how it goes.

vista is so fragile, prefer xp, "ooo, you just screwed up a reg file, your prob, you solve it" and vista "ooo, you just screwed up a reg file, im never going to run again untill you reformat and reinstall"

Having just installed SLI today i was having similar problems,

I have just rebooted and moved the bridge to the connection closest to the back of the case and playe DiRT for half an hour without crashing

hm just put my old 7800gtx back in to replace my 8800 and have just played lost planet for 2 hours with no crashes. i'm thinking maybe its not vista, and that its just my card is broken. :(

ive just been playing css for about 3 hours now, works fine, no errors so far, just about to install bf2142 (patching as i type), shall play that for a while.

lost planet is a little iffy, can run, but sometimes it will crash on vista, maybe it just needs a patch
