You got vsync off?

If so, put vsync on and see what happens

thats the first think i thought off. vsync is on. dont really see how i could have damaged it as temps havent gone above 60 and never even pushed the core past 650. you thinik i might have buggered it. cant think what else would explain whats going on

when i clock the core to 650 with mem at 1190, i dont get any artefacts or sparklies when i try and run 3dmark, it just doesnt run, ie after loading up the first test, just get a black screen with nothing happening. why is this. a have at no point had any artefacts or sparklies

If I clock my 8800GTS to 675Mhz I get a freeze in Oblivion, 650Mhz is rock solid.

I don't think it is heat related though so I doubt better cooling will increase it a lot further.

Regarding the issue you have it sounds a lot like a V-Sync issue so try V-sync on or change IQ settings so the FPS is lower or higher, I get that issue when my fps is close to the refreshrate.

Can you take a screenshot and show us please? If it doesn't show up in the screen shot then it might be a vsync issue like Dutch Guy et al says.

I doubt it is possible to take a screenshot as it is the screen that is producing it and even if it is possible it happens very briefly.

Fair enough. I was wondering if it was possible to differentiate as to whether it was a display property (which wouldn't show up on the screenshot) or a core/memory problem (which would).

Hmm, I have £757,359 knocking around, I might get one.

NB They say that's the price, but then when you add on all the extras (AC, electric windows, etc...) it would probably get up to £760,000, which just shows you how the price can creep up

is there any way of testing the gpy to see if i have damaged it. during the overclocking process, i didnt once get artefacts or sparklies. when i pushed it too far, 3dmark just froze or wouldnt even run. is this odd

Not really that strange, I get the same when I overclock my 8800GTS too far.
