Not being an expert, I'm wondering what this means exactly, having seen it mentioned several times. Is it actually a NEW version of the GTS/GTX? Will it be improved in any way - i.e make the GTX smaller, improve any other features etc.? I assume the performance will remain unchanged though? Also, is there any estimate on WHEN this refresh will take place? Are we talking January, March, the Summer? Is there usually a set period between a cards initial release and the 'refresh'?

:)

probably a 8800gs or something on those lines. like there was first the 7900gt and 7900gtx then they pulled out the 7900gs and 7950gt

A refresh is basically where the tweak the existing GPU core and also the PCB layout to improve performance slightly. You're probably looking at a refresh when R600 comes out from ATI and it'll probably be called 8900GTX.

I heard the g90 is coming out 2 weeks after the g81 comes out, then the g100 will come out a week after that and it will be 1000x faster than g80.

I don't get why the refreshes are soooo close.

:(
