Does anyone know how i can find out whether a 8800 card is a REV3. Ive heard they clock better and are cooler, but is there a certain batch / serial numbers to look out for?

a lot of GTS 640's are rev3 too, when I had an EVGA ACS3 KO 8800GTS 640mb that was a rev 3, a very crappy overclocking rev 3, only got to 650/2.2.

In general rev 3 is meant to be a better overclock but same here My GTS is rev 3 but can only get to 650/2120. I have seen plenty of people on here get the core up to high 600's.

It's all a lottery so I wouldn't pay extra necessarily for a rev 3 cause no guarantee.

Anyway, one thing is for sure that almost all the 8800 GTS cards seem to overclock to at least 620/630 and since stock is 500 so you are getting a minimum of approx 25% overclock for free which takes it past GTX stock speeds and up to Ultra stock speeds

I think people are getting too greedy nowadays with their overclocks IMO;)
