8800 series price drop?

I am building a conroe PC and am thinking of buying an 8800GTS. I will buy most of the parts in early march, do you think there will be a price drop on the 8800 series (a sigificant one)

I would say the prices have already dropped a lot concidering i payed £346 for my bfg model.

with GTS now at £249 price point, i think it will be a few months before they drop to the £199 point.

Well by march because the R600 will most probably be near release or out, and maybe the 8600's and stuff will be aswell it might go down to about £230 but not much more for a while.

I would imagine that the 8800gts will stay above £200 for the near future. The 8600 will come in the £100-£200 mark, and fill that price gap.

I expect a drop when R600 hits, and/or when G81 makes an appearance.

Of course, nVidia may just pull the 8800 and replace it with the 8900 series, but I expect the R600 and G80/G81 to be fairly competitive with each other.

Well theres a cheaper 320mb GTS supposedly coming out in Feb, its just a full bolwn GTS but with half the Ram, and i can't see that being £250 if the full blown GTS is already £250.

8800 GTX will be around £325
8800 GTS 640mb around £215
8800 GTS 320mb around the £190

No, it's The Inq's way of putting the new AMD / ATI combination - kinda clever (esp for The Inq' lol)... tho this article shows a typo - they normally spell it DAAMIT which makes it easier to understand where they get it from!

i paid 400 for my asus gtx at xmas few months u will get 2 gts's tbh sli em and it *** be great as they oc so well
