Anyone tried Crysis with a decent CPU and an Ultra? Got one on the way so hoping to get decent performance at 1600 x 900 + high-ish settings.

I'm gonna clock the hell out of it as well obviously. :)

Me and wont matter on your GPU as game is not using CPU fully and is meant to be CPU dependant.

Posted elsewhere earlier:

" Some peeps cant seem to get a grip on Crysis is buggy and is to be patched, the game was written to be CPU Dependant (I need go get interview URL's again ?)

I got little to no gain in Crysis with my GPU stock/overclocked/underclocked because my CPU had 1 Core at 40% and the other Core doing next to nothing, and many with Quads have same issue.

The CEO has now said there is no benefit over Duals for now and SLI needs fixed. "

Think carefully before buying an Ultra today.

Well got the EVGA 8800 Ultra for £265 brand new so I couldn't resist tbh. :)

I don't feel like I was ripped off anyway, I would never have bought it full whack (£400+) Got it cheaper than a bog standard GTX.

Your happy thats what counts.:)

The new GTS coming a few weeks will be faster and cheaper and your ultra will be (IS) plummet in price.

But I guess you knew that.

Well I still think the GTS is a bit 'up in the air' performance-wise. No-one actually knows how it's gonna perform really so I thought what the hell! The way I see it I nearly paid £212 for a Zotac AMP (inc postage) so £50 more for the ultra worth it? I think so.

I can't be arsed waiting anyway and if the GT is anything to go by, you'll waiting weeks to get hold of one and with christmas coming up I need a decent card.

It's not using the CPU fully you say? Then why not max the eye candy the hell out and not have to worry about the GPU being the bottleneck? :p

Wait you got an ultra for £265? Nice.

That doesnt make sence, its not using the CPU fully because the GPU is bottelnecking increasing the graphics will just make it more laggy.

On another note the Ragdoll Physics & Decals on Dead Enemies can now be enabled.

I think the ultra handles crysis quite well tbh. I run mine at 1920 * 1200 with high on everything apart from post processing and shadows (set to medium) and the game runs very smoothly. In the gpu bench mark i get around 35 fps average, however when playing it is normally around 40 :). Overclocking makes a big difference by making the fps more stable . Getting it overclocked to the level in my sig is easy with Gainward's Expertool (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17805991). It could prob overclock a bit further but i dont want to stress it to much :p

The Game is not using CPU's fully as its obv got issues, has nothing to do with the end user.

Go and read all the CEO's interviews about how the game was supposed to be.

I keep saying buying and throwing more powerfull hardware at Crysis is not the answer, let them try fix it.

Everything I say about this game in any thread can be found using Google "Crysis Inteview" and reading the CEO's BS.

Will Crysis be more dependent on the GPU or the CPU?

That will depend on the settings you are running the game at. Crysis is designed to make the most of both the CPU and GPU but with enough scalability to ensure a good game play experience on older hardware as well.

Interview with CEO snippet above. So that'll be a much more reasonable "Everything will make a difference" conclusion then.

You'll also notice the Intel sponsered intro movies when entering the game. What a shock he bigs up the quad cores.

Almost 4000 posts and still absolutely no clue - impressive.

When I was playing crysis it barely used more than 50% of each core, I dont play it anymore, its got boring now but I keep it installed for benchmarking.

i was playing crysis on vista on pretty high settings with no AA and was playable, got to the frozen ship part and turned into a slide show for the cut scene:confused:now playing it on xp on maxed settings (still no AA though)and i plays great:)if i turn the AA on the fps drop conciderably:(only playing at a res of 1280x1024:mad:
