8800 ultra problem

I’m having problem with an MSI NX800 Ultra card, after about 30-45 minutes of playing games it crashes out saying there is a problem driver/hardware, I have to reboot the pc to continue playing games works for another 30-45 minutes and crashes again,, using the latest NVIDIA drivers, running ati tool as I type and the temp is a constant 83…the only game I have played so far is Company Of Heroes.. But when it crashes I cannot even play the NVIDIA DX10 tech demos.
I have a 120mm fan blowing air directly from behind the graphics card.
Any advice would be great.

thats a very high temperature for idle. do you know what speed the fan is running at?

Hi, How can i see what speed the fan is running at, can not get ati tool to be 100% compaitable as i running vista 64, driver dll problems when trying to get it to run it.. is there another program i can try??

Also it idle the temp is 74..

increasing the fan speed to 100% made no real difference on the temp 1-2 deg,, But when i scan for artifacts on ati tool its say zero errors but the small window has a lot of small yellow dots after a while... do i have a problem with this card??

My Ultra Idles at 76, doesnt seem to bother it to be honest. I was worried when I first saw it idling at 76, but I'm yet to make it overheat/crash so I'm not too bothered.
Turning the fan up to 100% knocks off about 10 degrees on mine.

You can see the fan speed in the nVidia panel, well you have to have nTune though I think.

it is the card thats the problem,, these overclocked ultras are very unstable ie the msi & xfx xxx versions.
Guess i'll have to get a gtx version instead,,, now which one to go for???

I noticed in your sig that you have your CPU & NB watercooled...why not watercool your 8800 ultra...

My 8800gtx temps with EK fullcover waterblock
idle = about 40c
load = about 47c
