The 2nd 2900 is £35 cheaper. The ATi has 320 stream proccesses, the more expensive only has 96! - shouldn't this mean the Ati out-performs! The Ati GPU is ~ 200Mhz faster? The memory runs at 300Mhz faster? Nvidia 320bit memory controller, vs Ati 512bit memory controller?

Should the 2900 out-perform the 8800GTS

They are actually on par. Nvidia and ATI count thier stream processor differently. Plus ati clock them at 650mhz while nvidia clock them at 1300mhz.

I understand its not all about the Mhz, look at CPU's!

However ever stat shows the Ati out-performs? Have the Nvidia really got so much more performance using drivers or other channels of data transfer/proccessing!

That is crap then, the stats should at least be uniformed!

Nvidia clock thier stream proccesors at 1300mhz which makes up for thier smaller amount of stream proccesors. They also have 20 rops compared to 16 rops that the r600 has.

yes it should be uniformed but its not  . I think nvidia dont count special alu. While ati do but im not totally sure on this.

So why could Nvidia have 320 stream proccessors at 1300Mhz to blow the Ati ou t the water - or visa versa?

The technology is there. or is the problem due to the cooling?

The chip would be huge as nvidia have 96 physically stream proccesors. ATi on the other hand have 64 physical stream proccesors but they do 5 instructions per clock.

the 2900 £35 cheaper no question about it get the 2900.

Here is a review done the other day with the Catalyst 7.7 the 2900 out performs the GTS in all the tests bar 1 or 2

Its amazing what ATi have done driverwise, completely turned it around from when it was first released, GTS is getting beat out not now by 20fps+, res dependant, and thats with AA/AF, even in some cases it beats the GTX/Ultra, and the things only been out about 10 weeks, thats what happens when you get proper driver support, take a note Nvidia, your support sucks. :)
