hmm I've somewhat hijacked this thread... being 8800 v ATI and all...

but here for comparison is my 6800, same scene, medium settings, light AA and AF...

I could probably turn the textures up a bit as its a 512Mb 6800 without much performance loss if any, and get very close to the same FSAA settings and still be above 50fps...

EDIT:

pic6 - just under 50fps in fact - still...

Would be nice if some other people with a variety of cards would take a picture from that position with the FPS counter on, using either 4x or 8x FSAA and 16x AF or better, all settings maxed in FEAR.

I think you will find most 8800 owners will be playing games and won't be drawn into any more flame wars. Myself included.

Your monitors set too dark.

They are dark but perfectly visible.

Basically my cousin doesnt believe that an 8800GTS/X would be any better than a x1950xtx for everquest 2. He said it would like pixelated and horrible. Someone prove him wrong? please.. he is an ATI fan

My last Nvidia card was the 5950 and i left for ATI because i found the image clarity and detail far more lifelike with ATI. I have checked out the 6800's and 7900's at various LANs and have remained an ATI fan because the image was just not as real.

Now i have taken the plunge and purchased an 8800gtx i would like to confirm that i am converted. Its still early days as the card only arrived yesterday, but i confirm that image quality is definatly as good, and in some cases even better than the X1950XTX

Performance certainly helps. I can run more details and quality settings than i could with xfired X1900's.

When i upgraded to x1900 and x1950 i saw detail that was missing before with the x1800 - I now see extra details again with the 8800GTX.

Will take some screenies later - it's been running flawlessly on my rig @ 1680x1050, 16xAF, 16xQAA with Supersampling Transparency AA, over 60fps... beast of a card!!!
