So i got my super cheapo 8800GS arrive from ebay for physx purposes this morning and thought i would give it a test fire.

loaded straight up into windows and W7 found a generic driver for it....good times!. thought i would have a go with a game so launched NFS HP and it ran fine through menus etc but when it went to choose card crashes to black/slightly artifacted screen and looping music. did this twice......so lil bit concerned.

I had the ATI drivers barking at me that it couldnt find an ATI card, is it likely that the nvidia driver and ATI are having a fight resulting in the issues or is it possibly something more suspect?....AKA time for a visit to the oven lol

My thoughts were if it is booting ok in windows etc and running menus it might not be memory / gpu related....but if i am wrong, please tell me :)

thanks

Ben

ok tale of the tape at present is:

installed latest NV driver set and put the card back in the machine,

fired up and all is well at desktop, fluidmark at 1920x1080 started in benchmark mode, runs perfect for about 1 minute then locks up with artifacts forcing me to reboot......

Temp issue?...as if the memory is running ok to start with then its a fail after a minute or so it points to a heat problem....think it could be time for a strip down and repaste.
