Is the 1GB version of the 8800GT worth the extra cash over the 512MB model?
I game on a 19" monitor at 1280x1024.

Obviously I'm gonna wait for the new cards before buying anything.

Good choice if i am not impressed i get a gt as well but i think they will be good enough for me.

the 1 gb ram on the 8800gt and some other cards is a complete waste has the bandwith cant handle that much so it will probably end up using 512mb anyway. even the 256mb card would be fine for your monitor/res. the only card i see using the 1gb of ram is the old 1gb 2900xt.

Even the 1GB of ram on that was useless.

That wasn't the bus width though, that was because the rest of the card wasn't man enough for the job. That's why the 3870 was barely slower.
