8800GT 256mb Alpha Dog XXX Edition

Buying of a peep ?

And what RES do you want to ideally game at.

I aint sure on value as today just seen 1st reviews of the 256MB GT and price is $200 so not sure on £.

Whats a peep?

I game at anything thats playable on my X1800XT. Nothing higher than 1400x900 though

Brand new. around £100, i could try and get £60 or £70 for my x1800xt with cooler which would make it quite a good deal.

I just dont want it to sound like a hoover in my room! (or break after a week)

strange one place says -

256MB XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog XXX, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), 1950 MHz, GDDR3, GPU 670 MHz, 2 x DVI-I, HDCP, Fan

yet the one im looking at is 650mhz core 1600memory

is it worth me paying another £70 when im not that bothered about aa and af and will only be using till mid jan time.

In fact, i dont even know why I want a graphics card, i hardly play on games and crysis worked reasonably in medium/high settings. I just like finding cheaper than normal stuff really!

Waste of time buying any 256mb card in this day and age if you are a gamer.

Id like to see a comparison of FPS achieved at 1400x900 res between two identical cards, one with 256mb and one with 512mb.

Correct me if im wrong but im sure the 256mb version of some cards like X1800XT and 7800GTX were faster at lower resolutions than the 512mb equivalent.

I game at no higher than 1440x900, but obviously if textures cannot cope with 256mb then theres no point in getting one.
