Does anyone with an 8800GT have any experience with using a Zalman VF900 GPU cooler?

I have a spare boxed one not being used at the moment and wanted to know if they were a good cooler for these cards.

I don't have the RAM sinks anymore, so can you get away without having to cool the RAM?

Any help would be appreciated :)

I had a look around the net and it does fit.

Seems its pretty decent at bringing the temps down. Although they all say you need additional heatsinks for the tiny chips at the rear of the card.

I'd still like to hear of anyone elses experiences on this board :)

No ramsinks on mine altho i do have a 120mm fan blowing onto the card from the side of my case.

If your into overclocking you would benefit in buying some ram sinks so you can increase your ram overclock :)

Got a VF900 on my 8800 GT and haven't had a problem. I've got the supplied ramsinks on the ram, but nothing on the power regulators down the far end of the card. If you take a look at some of the 8800 GT cards with non-standard coolers, there's at least one that doesn't have heatsinks on the power regulators, so I'm gonna assume it's fine like that since at least one manufacturer is selling them like that. It may well limit overclocking, but I run mine at stock so that's a non issue for me.

Runs a lot cooler than stock cooler with the VF900 fan at minimum and doesn't make the annoying fan noise during startup, or any other time.
