Howzit guys.

I have a friend who bought a 8800GT Chaintech card a month ago, he has put it into his Gigabyte S- Series 2 motherboard 945 chipset, I think?

So, he's now run into some problems, when he starts playing a game, about 5 minutes into the game the screen will go off and the sound (from game) will sound like a scratched CD.

We have tried new RAM, PSU and a different Gigabyte board. Same problemo. So, we took it back and the supplier said they tested the card with no problems. They seem to think it needs a PCI - E 2 buss for it to work, which I don't believe for one minute.

Anyone got any ideas as to what this could be?

Any help would be much appreciated! :D

XP or Vista? Tried checking the temperature and trying different drivers? When I had this kind of problem it was an overheating card...

I haven't checked temps. We've formatted and tried both Vista and Windows XP.

I did put my hand on the card and it was just warm. 9I know thats not how to properly mesure temps lol)

hmm, sounds odd for sure.

...as long as it's PCI-E 1.1 or above you should have no problems. Perhaps its just some sort of incompatibility with the board itself.

Have you tried updating the BIOS?

Hi,

The problem isn't with the PC. We've tried a few different pcs + hardware profiles. So the above programs will be of no use to us at all. They're for testing CPU/RAM/Overclocking stabilty setups.

I need to try determin if the card is faulty or it's because its being used on a PCI-E 1 board and not a PIC - E 2 board. (Which to me, shouldnt make a difference)

Appreciate the reply though. :D
