8800GT Compatibility

Hi all! I've read a lot of rumours about the 8800gt and issues with pcie 1.0a slots. I figured that since the 965p isn't that old, it'd be 1.1, but it looks like it's actually 1.0a.

Can anyone confirm whether I'll be able to run an 8800gt on my current setup? It looks like there shouldn't be an issue - I emailed Gigabyte and they said "It should be 1.1 however we suggest checking with your supplier before purchasing." Fantastic product knowledge there!

So, anyone got any idea whether I'm wasting my time buying one? I was contemplating the new GTS (depending whether I'll need a mortgage for one) so I'm assuming the same thing applies there.

Epox 9npa Ultra

I am using a XFX GeForce 8800 GT XXX Alpha Dog 512MB on a Epox 9npa Ultra AMD 939 setup and so far had no problems it has pcie 1.0a slot and the BIOS is old, from April last year as I said so far so good.

I have an Asus commando mobo which has the 965 chipset and the 8800GT works perfectly with the older pcie spec.

BFG 8800GT OC works fine on MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum which has a v1.0a PCI-E slot.
