Hi there. Just installed my new 8800gt. I run my PC through a HDTV with a native resolution of 1360x768. In the nvidia control panel the max resolution i can select is 1280x768. How do i set a custom resolution? I was able to run 1360x768 fine with mt old x1950pro card and i created that resolution using powerstrip which doesn't seem to work with my new card. Btw using 169.17 drivers. Help!

PS: just ran 3dmark06 (1280x768) and got just over 10k, is that about right?

try using google "1360x768 with a 8800gt on hdtv" there are plenty of peeps talking about it via diff connections :)

from what i saw it depends on the connection i.e vga hdmi etc i'm sure if you trawl the internet some peep should have the answer well you would think so

to use that res on most hdtv setups u need to use a hdmi 2 dvi cable. as the pc connection
on a hdtv only lets you sync at 1024x768.

but with the right cable you can hit the 1366x768.

as for most new games now days let you play in 720p (1280x768)
unless you modify the res with in a game config.

Thanks for the replies. I am connected to my hdtv via vga. I have now found that the 'create custom resolution' option in Vista does not work (as confirmed by nvidia in driver release notes).

I am now writing this from XP x32 as i have backed up my PC from my Norton Ghost 12 image and am now able to select 1360x768 fine in the nvida control panel in XP. Pretty annoyed really as just spent almost £200 on a card i can't run at the res i want in Vista and have had to go back to XP.

Hope so. Not impressed. I've been an ATI user since my 9800pro and had to go nvidia due to the power of the 8800 cards v ATI's line up. Drivers seem to need a bit of work...

**UPDATE**

Just ran 3DMark06 in XP and get over 11k. Over a 1k more than in Vista x64. The create custom resolution thing works fine in XP. Guess i'll just have to wait until nvidia make this option available in Vista.

Really starting to regret buying this card. In XP i am able to run Windows fine at 1360x768 on my LCD HDTV but when i go to play a game (COD4, TW2008 ect) the max resolution i can select is 1280x768..

I had zero problems on the same TV with my x1950pro running windows at 1360x768 and running games at the same res.

What am i doing wrong? Does anyone know how to force games to run at the same res my desktop runs at?

Thanks in advance.

Download Rivatuner 2.06 and add a custom resolution+refresh rate using it.

The HDTV i have would'nt use 1360x768 60hz in vista 64 with my geforce 8800gt (Ati card works automatically in this resolution) so i had to force a custom resolution using rivatuner.

This allowed me to choose 1360x768 which works in both desktop and games.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the relpy but no this doesn't work for me. I have no problem getting the resolution to work in Windows, it's just that games do not let me select a higher res the 1280x768.

That's very strange. Rivatuner once a custom resolution/refresh rate is added should not only be working in desktop but also automatically allow you to change to 1360x768 in games. At least it does with mine.

What nvidia drivers are you using?
