8800GT Drivers Recommendation

Have tried a few beta and 174 drivers for 9 series and they are not as stable and some of them even give artifacts/glitches in game so am sticking with the official 169.25 Omega version. Lost about 200points in 3dmark06 which is nothing.
 
Ditto to what steve said. The 174 series works for some people and not for others.

I have had problems with every driver starting 174 onwards and was still on 169.28 for ages:(

All the 174 drivers caused lockups and stuttering in Conflict: Denied Ops and Kane and Lynch.

They gave me quite a boost in crysis and other games but useless since I wanted to finish those two games.

I now have finished them and I have upgraded to the 174.85 beta drivers and no problems with them so far in the current games I'm playing.

What you will always find with driver releases is that they will fix problems in cartain games and break other games.

Always best to read the release notes with each driver and check for problems plus check forums for other known problems with certain games.

If all your games work fine with the driver then probably best to go for the latest driver in general. If not you have to keep looking back through the old drivers for one that does work with that game.
