sorry if this question has been asked already in the 8800gt frenzy that is on the go at the moment; if i'm getting a bog standard 8800gt i.e. not overclocked by the manufacturer, does it mater which brand i get.

will all the basic cards be the same? are there any manufacturers to avoid?

i need one of these before xmas so i can play my new games!

All current GT cards are made by the same manufacturer so the only thing which alters is warranty, customer service and free game(s)

eg

BFG = lifetime warranty
EVGA = 10 years and they allow overclocking and the swapping of stock cooler

Some lessor known makes only offer one year.

New gt cards out soon with improved power supplies and coolers but may not hit shops before christmas.

EVGA are reported to "cherry pick" their pre-overclocked cards (see thread on here) but not sure about other manufacturers but you are looking for stock cards so makes no difference.

Asus gives you company of heros opposing forces
MSI gives you DIRT and Lord of the Rings online: Shadow of Angmar.
EVGA gives you Quake Wars (they also have a Crysis version out as well)
BFG give you nought, not a bean, bugger all (cheapskates:D)

So it only really comes down to 4 things:

1. Availability
2. Price
3. Warranty
4. Free game

Hope that helps
