im about to receive my new system from cyberpower very soon and was just wondering on my decission yeaterday to swap vista to xp.

will games like crysis ut3 etc etc still run on xp
what difference is there between dx9 and 10
 
The games you mention will still run fine on XP but only in DX9 mode, as DX10 is Vista only.

Theres a good chance they will run better in XP as well :)

i mean, at the mo i have a 8600gt so im going to be blown away with my new system with the 8800 in it, but im beggining to wonder if i made the right decission in swapping vista for xp.
 
DX10 is more of an effects engine, smoke/water/fire/wind will seem more realistic and will most likely be physics simulated using particle effects. it will look better when some full DX10 titles come out and run fine but now its nothing to worry about. dont know how well the 8800gt will handle it, but it handles all my games good on 1680x1050 (High0 on DX9.

you might get a performance hit on some demanding games.

so if i use that list and add it to the autoexec.cfg file, i will have near / same stuff dx10 has to offer ?

why would you use xp over vista psychas ?
