I used to use RivaTuner but the automatic fan control didnt work, it was on auto with a minimum fan speed of 45% which worked ok but obviously fried my card when playing games for any length of time, escecially as the card was running at 700 core 1000 memory.

I installed Ntune yesterday and it seemed great, auto fan control worked and I had it running at 700 1000. I turned on my pc this morning and the settings did not save, when i try to save the profile to load on startup I get errors and then it froze in windows for some reason (XP)

Now i find articles on the net about Ntune is a piece of junk.

What software for XP will auto control my the fan and save profiles?

Thanks

thanks mate, great guide. just got mine at the following

0-50c fan 40%
50-60 fan 50
60-70 fan 60
70-80 fan 70
80-90 fan 80
90-100 fan 90

Looks about right, can't remember what mine was before watercooling it.

I think I didn't do as many steps and since i found mine at 60% wasn't that noticable I just went for that until temps hit 80c.

You might want to put it on 100% for over 90c though, your card really shouldn't be getting to that temp even in furmark.

But the more steps the better IMO.

set 90-100c to 100% fan now.

How do you minimise it to tray and have the core temp showing on the icon? I have found settings - set to tray on close, but would like to see the temp there if possible

Tried that furmnark. Highest the temp gets to is 76c after about 20 minutes. The fan is at 60% though and then hardware monitoring reports it jumps to 90% a couple of times instead of going to 70% fan speed

I've had no luck at all with my 8800GT, I think it's alright and then games crash. Accelero S1 + 12cm fan so no way it's overheating. 40 on idle now

Im the same, i bench for hours on crysis, 3dmark or whatever then itll randomly crash like an overheat in cod4 multiplayer (even though it hasnt overheated)
