whats yours at?

ive seen on a sig (dont remember the name) someone running the core at 750MHz+.

how? i want.

by buying these for the voltage regulators...

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...=399&name=Akasa VGA Ram Heatsink (AK-VMC01-BK)

would it allow me to overclock further and make it more stable? or would it just make the card even cooler.

i have mine running at 700/1725/1000 atm. but as i bump it up to say 715 core, it gets unstable. i can run 3dmark06 at 750 core clock but its not very stable and crashes in games etc.

any ideas for getting a higher overclock?

thankings.

I'm at my gf's atm, but I have a similar setup. After 715mhz theres problems. Do you have 3dmarks for stock and overclocked settings? It would be nice to see the difference, when i get back i'll do something similar.

well i have before and after scores but the thing is i also overclocked the cpu between running them, so i wont be able to tell how much of a difference the graphics card made:(

il do some tests later tonight or tomoro and see what happens.

ok my results.

all the tests done with the same cpu clock of 3.3GHz on 1280 x 1024.

test-1

default clocks of 625/1566/900 (i have a BFG factory o/c'd version ((which i didnt remember until after the darn test))

3dmark06 result: 13497

test-2

overclocked clock of 700/1725/1000.

3dmark06 result: 14613

test-3

overclocked as far as i can go without crashing on 3dmark (totally unstable on ati tool tress tester thingy).. 767/1842/1046

3dmark06 result: 15186

does that look right?

700/1750/987 is my max, could probably get memory up to 1000. ---edit--- 1026 stable

Are temps ok?
The jump in clocks from test 2 to test 3 is very big, especially for shaders. could you not find something stable closer to your test 2 speeds.

Honestly though, im happy with mine at its current speed. it gives a nice increase in fps over stock speeds and isnt something that causes too many heat problems.

Maybe have a look at the bios mods that up the voltage a little bit. I was looking it up recently but the results were very mixed, some high some the same so in the end i didnt bother.

I cant seem to get mine past 675 on the core without it becoming unstable. Am using the stock cooler but temps only just reach over 60 degrees so didnt think it would be causing a problem. Would love to be able to get over 700 on the core :p

^ 60 is fine, though is that idle or some load? What are the rest of your clocks?

dont really want to say it, but its probably just your card ;) since getting to 700 is normally fairly easy with GTs

Thats with some load, normally idles at 50 degrees. Stock clock on mine is 600 and have had it clocked for a while at 650/1625/950 and have had it up to 675/1675/975 but trying to get any higher than that seems to give me some instability. Tried using ati tool to find the max overclocks and it suggests i can reach something close to 698 on the core but when i try higher than 680 normally i dont get much luck when testing in 3dmark 06.

^ I might have an older version of ati-tool but it hasnt been very helpful to me. Its probably your card then.. :( what about the shaders, can you push them any higher while leaving the core at 650 or 675?

ps. nice highjack of thread :D

I have 3x 8800GT - one does 700MHz, one 760 and the other 680 (which sucks) the 760 one is a gainward and takes the 1.1 BIOS mod - the other 2 cards are asus and don't work with the 1.1 mod. We have another 2 machines with 8800GTs here (1x gigabyte, 1x bfg) and they do 700 and 713 with or without the BIOS mod.

well ive got it stable at test 2 speeds, but i want more :)

going to try the bios mod for the voltage (dont know where to start yet so could take a while)

Using the Gainward Goldensample - 745 core is stable for me (by stable I mean played Crysis for over an hour no prbz) Temps reach 65C max, 42C idle
