However, I'd have a good attempt at giving it a proper clean first. Lower temps will mean the possibility of an increased or better chance of overclocking it as well. :)

Totally agree, you can use Rivatuner to overclock the card by 25% easily once you sort out the temps. There are a number of guides on the web for how to do this.
 
thanks i might just order one of them after cleaning if not just to try it rather than spending £130 on a new card because it runs everything i want smoothly.
 
I hear that as well as lowering temps substantially the cooler I linked to will make a fantastic reduction in noise output too. Let us know how you get on. :)
