Hello all! This is my first post on here, alas it is of the slightly negative variety.
I purchased about 2 months ago an 8800gt 512 so i could run it in Sli with my original 8800gt 512. Also to link up with my 2 monitors. FYI i run Win7 x64 on MSI P7N Diamond 780i w/q9450 @ 3Ghz(OC).
They both have AC Twin Turbo heatsink/fan and take up 3 slots each. (I like my cooling as quiet as possible)
This leaves me very little room for anything extra in the case, so much so my Firewire 800 PCI card has to be taken out; this is used for an external sound card.
I have run both cards together without any problems before, albeit very loudly.
A few weeks back due to space constraints I used my new 8800gt, which has 2 DVI outputs as opposed to 1 on my original, and I decided to run it solo. So my original was out of the case.
As of last week my new 8800gt started outputting only cyan and green on output 2. To come to this conclusion I switched around my monitors and both were getting a clear and clean signal from output 1.
I was a bit miffed. So I decided to put my original 8800gt back in. This was sunday evening.
Drivers all successfully installed, all running smoothly, watched a Blu-ray then went to bed.
Woke up monday to find a couple of problems.
I'm getting red dotted lines when the computer starts, but when coming onto the windows startup, they disappear. When in Win7 only 1 monitor is working and i'm getting code 43.
I've reinstalled drivers numerous times, chipset and graphics to no avail. Used drive sweeper on many occasions to make sure they were uninstalled.
Tried each card individually, culprit is my original 8800gt. I baked the card as a last resort, it actually worked and that was last night (Tuesday), woke up today(Wednesday) only to find the problem has resurfaced.
Googling both problems has amounted to very little.
I'd really like to return to a 2 monitor setup, as it has eased my workflow signifcantly.
Any further suggestions? (Other than introducing it to a sledgehammer)
