8800gt question

hello all 1st post for me here
question
my spec is as follows
athlon 64 @ 2.21
2 gig ddr
8600gt pcie

now....with the current processor and ram, would it be worth my while buying a 8800gt to replace the 8600 ?
in a nut shell would it work well ?

Yeah it would work well and be a massive improvement as your CPU can still cut the mustard in games. I think that the GPU would still be the bottleneck in that system in most games even with a 8800GT, depending on what resolution you're playing at.

You haven't said what games you play or what resolution you play at. Until you answer these questions nobody can answer yours.

mostly play bf2 quake wars ut3 tried crysis and play them at 1024x768 never really tried them on a higher res

It will allow you to use much higher settings on Crysis and UT3 and at that res should still allow for a very playable fps rate. It will be much better but at that res. it might even be overkill.
