Willhub, get your flags and banners out, the GT's are coming :p ;) (just messing dude, I hope you finally get a card you actually allows you to enjoy games, rather than lets you think about what card your using :))

Whoever manages to get there GT TODAY, can you post your spec and do some benchies please and get them up ASAP.

Matthew

lol... slip in as many as you like !! *sick* ;)

I am pretty excited as I hope this time it will be a 'proper' battle in the mid range with both major companies releasing products to be competitive at the same time. I'm liking the look of the GT but a little skeptical, and even more skeptical of the 38xx series, especially since there has been the typical amd info blackout :(

BRING ON THE GT ;)

Matthew

I was surprised how well the 2900xt was holding up and notably thrashing the GTS when using AA and AF lol. Was very surpised how well it did on Crysis as well.

The GT certainly looks to be an impressive card though given the MUCH more sensible price range :) THG (US site) mentioned the lack of overclocking (only 680Mhz on core), but this may be down to reduced voltage (lets get flashing) and the lack of a decent cooler (cost cutting?).

[TW] FOX > And I believe you need to reduce yours to only 1 line below you image, perhaps it would be better as:
C2D@3Ghz|4Gb OCZ Platinum|BFG 8800GTS OC|Abit IP35 Pro

:p

Oh, hi from Plymouth as well :D (although living out Tavistock way nowadays).

Matthew

Thanks for thread retitle lol ;)

Whilst we are at it .... shouldn't the actual release of the NDA be at 1PM BST (i.e. 1pm today) as due to the time shift over here the time should really be 2pm now, not 1pm.

So basically... RELEASE THE CARDS, only 1 minute to go hehe:D

GIBBO> Seriously, can you look at this and see if you NDA clear now as of 1PM Please :) (normally it wouldn't be this way but america hasn't adjusted their clocks like we have!)

Matthew

Bet the NDA is lifted in the states already.. half an hour ago!!!!!

With the BST time change it should have been lifted at 1pm i tell you! I'm gonna sue..or maybe just sew :D

Matthew

lol.. at pre-order dates. Maybe they will change it in a few mins (here's hoping for all you hungry gfx hounds lol)

Still damn expensive though considering what Gibbo mentioned ESPECIALLY about the OCUK branded versions.

Matthew

Hyper, don't be an moron and incriminate others because you were so stupid to admit you were wrong in breaching the rules.

Shame OCUK doesn't have them in stock, big let down. But at the end of the day, the OCUK shop has a lot more customers than just the forum who arn't "really" tech literate but have heard it's gonna be a good card.

Matthew

Only at high resolutions and the vast majority of people don't go above 4x anyway.

Bully for you but just because you can afford something doesn't make it good value. The fact remains that, in all but extreme conditions, the GT offers 90% of the performance of the GTX for less than half the price. An SLI GT setup would murder a single GTX and still cost less.

Whilst the GTX is still a good card and ultimately faster than the GT, it's now become very poor value next to the GT. If I owned a GTX I'd be looking at offloading it quickly before the used prices start to tumble, especially with the new GTS and possibly new GTX on the way.
Why are you telling GTX owners it's all over? You might be silly buying it now, but not if bought previously. So what if people want to buy the gtx, ultra, xtx versions, it is their money their choice. At the end of the day they have the better card, regardless if it's a smidgen of a performance increase.

I still wouldn't buy a gtx though as so expensive, but that's me.

Matthew

Shame the release has been tainted by this really, but hey. They are released at least (even if not here). I'm waiting for reports of people camping at the doors of OCUK HQ ;)

I feel like I'm missing out, can I have a suspension please? ;)(JUST JOKING JohnnyG! :D)

Matthew

I was under the impression that games were moving away from using card orientated AA? (even though 10.1 makes it mandatory lol)

At least the UK doesn't have the seriously annoying 'rebate' system going on with tech over here. We have it for cars, just not for tech, which is a good thing. I actively stay away from those products when visiting my wifes family over there.

Your link was http://www.overclockers.co.uk/news.php

That current content of that link is against the law 'trading standards'. It is advertising a 512mb card and then says FROM 124 + vat. It is the 256 mb version that is FROM that price and not the 512MB as stated in the advert.

OCUK> I suggest you change your advert as it is false advertising.
