8800GT Ramblings Thread

I still can't make my mind up if to get one of these and flog the 2900 pro flashed to xt, trouble is ill be lucky to get £130 i bet for it.
 
My bro has a 7800gt and its pretty much the same kind of cooler on that single slot etc, same looking style fan and i have to say its not too noisy.

They were not very competitive on the launch of the 8800gtx :( I think I paid about £500 on OCUK but they could be picked up elsewhere for £450 (I actually recall the price rise from 480 to 500 in the first couple of mins :D).

I think OCUK know we will pay the extra for the quality service and in general the fact they secure larger stock amounts.

So unless they try to cash in on the first day due to demand...........

Hope not - wouldn't be great for customer loyality, and if you can get the same product cheaper from another reputable retailer...
 
Well I've got a budget for the 8800GT of £190 so I may get the 700core versions as long as it comes with some games :D.
 
My budget is £150 inc vat I think, the only reason i sold my GTS was for a cheap upgrade and I think it would be unfair if ocuk bumped the price up because they simply could.
 
I got £300 MAX to spend for 2 (maybe add 8 onto that for p+p)

should sell my GTS for close to £200, so a £100 upgrade for something that should spank my last set up. i just hope theyre £150, no more.

Depending on the price i may pay the extra for the evga one if it has the new quake wars game bundled with it, but its more likely going to be the cheapest i get
 
Thinking about it...

Why didn't they call this the 9600GT?
It would make sense as it's as powerful as the best of the "previous generation" and scrub out a lot of confusion.
 
Hmm, another etailer had them up for a reasonable price including VAT, though no stock. Now its listed as higher than 320MB GTS including VAT. Hope this trend is not across the board with shops.
