8800GT really has 112 SP's

it makes me laugh when they say 'will cost 199$ to 249$ worldwide'

no chance. UK will probably be closer to 200 tbh.

looks like it will be a good mainstream/high end card.
 
You can't complain really, nearly a year the GTS's have been going, thats a long time in graphics cards, they normally get replaced long before then with newer cards, just Nvidia have no competiton at the moment, so no point them slinging cards out left right and centre, as if you want the fastest cards, you have to buy Nvidia ones anyway, they can't lose. :D

I'm not sure yet lets wait for benchmarks i think the only card that will beat the 640 8800 gts is the new 8800 gts 512mb which isn't out til end november but it's likely it will be a massive 5-10fps more for £250 which is no big deal.
 
The main reason i don't believe the hype is that it makes no business sense to release a card that beats the 8800 gts for cheaper, in fact it would be business suicide, so i can't see the gt being better than the gts. i still think it will be in this order 8800gt 8800gts320/640 8800 gts 512 112 shaders 8800 gtx 8800 gtx ultra.

I think the get will replace the gts. once its out i don't think they wil be making more, a bit like the 2900xt/pro

Makes sense if ati are brining out a better card for there mid range nvidia need to keep up in that department also.
 
It's not like nVidia bringing out a card that outperforms previously more expensive cards is at all unusual. It happens whenever the mid range is refreshed (8800 series being an exception). The only thing that's unusual about this launch is the naming scheme.
