8800GT Stock question

ive asked a question in another thread because i asked a quesion in the other thread and it never got answered, suppose because theres so many posts and it goes quick.

Ok i heard once again the ETA has gone back again for EVGA superclocked, crysis edition, i ordered on the 10th i think, and it said 16th ETA, then it got took back to 23rd, one day before the 23rd it gets put back again to 30th,

is the 30th the date for people who havnt preordered them allready, is there going to be some arriving tommorow for people who allready pre ordered ?

bloody hope so, not happy at all, i have no graphics card to put in my £600 pound system, its totaly useless just sitting here, waste of money

dont know why they cant give a more accuarate date, i mean EVGA, not hard really.

Whats up with the gainward 8800gt there is 5 instock is it the warranty.

It's mainly because this is a standard stock speed card, in otherwords not overclocked.

So why not just overclock the gainward to evga clocks.

there's no guarantee that the card will perform at the EVGA SC speeds as it is not tested and sold as such.

Also it will have a standard heatsink/cooler and not a custom install which would be fitted by EVGA/BFG etc, so any overclocking done needs to take this into account and as a result limit the speeds.

Yeh, but I was also told it depends if the stock arrives from EVGA as promised.

basically there are no guarantees and EVGA are very unreliable and have not supplied the cards so far as required. so there may be substantial delays with these cards so the date will probably slip again. I will cancel if this is the case.

the EVGA SC is guaranteed to perform at that speed. The Gainward simply isn't.

overall, the EVGA can be further overclocked to higher speeds where the gainward would struggle without additional cooling. Even then there is always a chance of failure.

basically it's the chance you take, you may get lucky, or you may not.

Not true. My BFG OC won't reach 2000 on the memory and only 720 on core.

Also, many owners of the EVGA SCC card (700/2000) report they get 760/2060 which is the highest reported GT's on stock cooler.

There is something to be said for cherry picking.
