Hello there guys,

I received my BFG 8800 GT OC2 from OcUK yesterday as Gibbo promised I would receive it. Excellent service. I've installed the OC2 into my new computer and it's all booted fine. The card seems to be fine. Not had a chance to push it yet in games but the card looks brilliant (well packaged and protected). In fact when I get home (at work right now) I'll try to remember to post the pictures of took of it. Rest assured, these cards coming from OcUK are excellent.

Hi there,

I have just received my Zotac AMP 8800GT from Overclockers. I must have just caught the tail end of that batch! Big thanks to Overclockers for the forum updates and good phone service. Now hurry up and deliver my case so I can take this baby out for a spin! :D

I had read the PSU recommendation for the 8800GT on the EVGA site. It's very likely that they err on the side of caution and that lower-powered PSU's are able to give performance to the GT. :)

Btw any guys who have got their BFG OC2 and installed it? Comments?

I still got a couple of days before I get my card, probably it's on a plane right now, and can only drool at your experience and anticipate the joy... :D

I received my BFG OC2 yesterday. Installed no probs, came with the molex-to-6 pin PCI-E connector. Booted first time.

It certainly runs hot! Hit 90 deg C after a Crysis session. Fired up Riva Tuner and set the fan to run faster; became audible above my CPU and case fans at around 55% of max speed. Set it to 60% and played Crysis for a while, afterwards was sitting at around 70-75 deg C.

In terms of performance (CPU: Athlon X2 4200+ (10% overclock), RAM 2GB Geil PC3200 @ 220MHz DDR):

3DMark 06: 8700.

All Source-engine games ran at 1280 x 1024, max settings, solid 60FPS.

UT3 - silky smooth @ 1280x1024, max settings.

Crysis - some frame-droppage, although still massively playable @ 1280 x 1024, High settings for everything, 2 x AA.

Crysis twice caused my system to freeze - installing the Forceware Beta 196.09 driver sorted it out.

Summary: Extremely happy! Many thanks to OcUK for the tremendous service.

Why not just get a different brand? I know the zotac is the best looking GT out there tho.

There's only a few MHz diff between all of the factory OC'd cards - make minimal difference performance-wise. Even then you could prob safely OC to the Zotac speeds.

I switched from the Leadtek Extreme to the BFG OC2.

What a joke of a service! After everyone [in sales] telling me I'd get a Zotac, even as late as this morning saying they had 5 orders and 5 Zotacs to dispatch and that it was 'simple maths' that I would receive one, now I rang to check why it is still in the warehouse queue and was told 'sorry had too many orders, back on pre-order'.

What can I say! Cheers OcUK.

Cancelled the order anyway now, hopefully will get my money back sharpish.

Doesn't seem entirely fair does it, not sure what type of queuing system is at play here, I ordered my Zotac before some others that already have theirs and my order is still in the warehouse queue too.
I'm not cancelling, but I am disappointed.

Step-Up

Aup, bit of a strange one..

Because I pre-ordered an EVGA GT card (the Crysis bundle) at the start of this month, will this effect the Step-Up program that EVGA offer? i.e. is the start of November the date of purchase, as the money's gone out of my bank?

I hope not, wouldn't think it'd be fair.... say if I was to receive it at the end of December (heaven forbid!) that'd give me a month to register the card with EVGA and apply for the Step-Up malarky!

This is what you get when you're waiting for these things...paranoia!

Also, Crysis game with the card...is it in a DVD retail case, or just a sleeve?

I'm half tempted to scrap it and go with BFG, which my order was with beforehand, doh! :)

STep up based on price on your invoice so don't worry.

But in order to be eligible you have to register your card with EVGA (within 3 months of purchase date), and if I haven't got the card, I can't do this....and by the time it is here, I won't have long to register *IF* the date on the invoice is the date I pre-ordered it online.

Or should I just Shhhhhh LOL! :)

The invoice date will be the date your card gets shipped as you aintgot your invoice yet, you will get it with your card. :p

That's alright then, cheers! For some reason I've been convincing myself that the date will be from when I pre-ordered it, when the money came out the bank!

It's just me being paranoid and impatient...games are stacking up, and I'm just putting doom on everything!

*EDIT*

NVM? I've already quoted you now! LOL
