Is there any reason why my load temps would suddenly gain 20c?

Mild overclock using 50% constant fan speed, load temps have jumped from high 70's to just over 100c.

Only noticed when COD4 and TDU kept crashing out.

well obviously they should suddenly change that much. Just got to figure out why?
How is the case ventilation? How long have you had the card? theyve hardly been around long enough for clumps of dirt to get into the heatsink (im remembering my radeon 9800pro)

^ thats about normal. mines 53c @40% fan and it goes up to about 73, though ive set it so the fan does speed up a bit as the temps go up

I've air-dusted and hoovered out the card. The card is less than 6 months old. THe only thing I've done different is switch to Vista and the latest Vista WHQL forcewares - oh and strapped a 90mm fan over the reference fan to try and help it out a little - which has made no difference at all.

The case is a huge old Antec AMG1100 with 3 intake and 3 exhaust fans.

Temps at idle are:

Hi andyp,

I dont mean to sound funny when I ask this but I am assuming your additional fan over the GFX card fan is blowing or pushing in the same direction as the stock fan, i.e they are not competing?

Peace :)

It's pulling air out - thinking practically I assume that's wrong?

I only did this when I realised the temps were so damn high.

Get an accelero s1 cheap as chips and will sort the card out.
Flash the bios with your choice of overclock no need to run rivatuner.
Got one on mine idle is 35c gaming load is 40c with just a 120mm 800 rpm quiet fan.
