well dvi to dvi would be better as in time i will be getting a moniter so will use the moniters dvi conection then

you only need DVI-D for a 30" monitor, DVI-I is enough for a HDTV

DVI-I just means the cable can carry analogue signals (DVI-Integrated). You can then get Dual Link DVI-D or DVI-I, which I think you're getting it confused with (and indeed you do only need DVI-I/D Dual Link with 30"+ monitors)

im all confused here guys

will a male to male dvi cable and a dvi-i to hdmi adapter do what i need it to?

You want a 'female HDMI to male DVI adapter'

Then a male-male hdmi cable, if you buy a monitor it will most likely come with the cables (DVI-DVI), dont bother with dual link either

Or you could get one of these, HDmi To Dvi-d Cable
