Mmmm, I don't think it's as clear cut...
My BFG 8800GT was 675/1698/1900 out of the box for £115 inc VAT,
The cheapest GTS I can see is the OCUK one at £146.86 inc VAT, which runs at 678/1625/1940 out the box, but obviously has the full 128 shaders...
That's an increase of 22% and I am 100% positive you DON'T gain 22% in performance for the money over an 8800GT!?
Now I run my 8800GT at 780/1798/2200 24/7 with zero crashes... running Crysis at 1920x1200 at 30.56fps (using the benchmark utility)... not quite sure why everyone has automatically said GTS in answer to this guys question? Yes, it's quicker, but worth the extra cash? £105.74 inc VAT now buys you a 8800GT which is 28% cheaper?
£105.74 V's £146.86 for an extra 16 shaders... Mmmmmm, that's a fair price difference there for how much performance?
Also, isn't it a dual cooler, so you lose a slot? If you have the money mate, yeah for for the GTS, but for me, I just don't see the point... I get 15097 3DMark06 with mine at 24/7 settings... and run EVERY game in top res... funny actually, ran UT204 benchmark Antalus at 656fps rofl
Cheers
