Hi, today I am thinking of buying a Nvidia 8800GTS 320mb, but will I actually have problems running DX10 games due to the low memory?

Also, in the future would it be possible to have SLi with a Nvidia 8800GTS 640mb and a 320mb or 320MB 8800GTS and an 8800GTX?

You think my Hiper Type-R 580W PSU will be able to sustain an 8800GTS 640mb? I have the older version that only has one PCI-E connector.
 
I wouldn't get an 8 series for Dx10, just wait till Dx10 games are around before getting a card as by then 8 series are gona be old hat, already 5 months old as it is so they are going to be the slowest Dx10 cards you can get before you can use Dx10, so if your after Dx10 dont get an 8 series, wait till Dx10 is here, best of getting the 8 series for the now, and the performance you get now, not for something thats not even here yet. :)

Yea, I was wanting to good card because at the moment I have an X800XT PE, and its like lagging like hell in Everquest 2 and I cant even play games like Rainbow Six - Vegas because my card dont even have SM3.0.

So what card should I get to play most games at maximum settings?

Also, whats the best card I could get for around £150 - £200?
 
I checked how much money I have, and all I can afford is an 8800GTS 320mb :\, so I guess I will have to wait, but this crappy card I am currently using is useless.

Best value card on the market and if you are on a budget is the X1950XT. Bought one myself last week and I am very impressed. Plays SC, CC3 at 1920x1200 with max detail. etc.... excellent card for the money. X1900XT-X for £120+vat
 
I think if the X1950XT was 512mb and £145 then I would get that, but the 512mb versions are over £200 and the 256mb ram is offputting.

How long do you think an X1950XT 256MB would last if I wanted to play all games at maximum settings?

I just bought a Leadtek 8800GTS 640MB for not much more than that, I think a better idea would be to extend your budget (if possible)

How long is a piece of string ........ Some games already won't hack all settings, rainbow 6 is one but then a 8800 GTS 320 won't either. If your in the markey for a new card and you have the money the one to get is the 640MB GTS or a non name GTX. If you want to tide you over until the real DX10 cards come out then the X1950 is a good buy, thats what I am doing ;)
 
gts 320 is fine depending on your res. It oblitarates an x1950pro and x1950xt. If your considering one of them you really should spend the little extra for the gts as you will be far happier
 
Indeed it does, they obliterate every ATi card thats out there, ATi do not have any cards out at all that are as fast, truly stonking cards, and the price is phenomenal. :cool:
 
Why should I uprade an 8800GTS within 90dats? O_o, that aint a long time :\

I might concider an 8800GTS 320mb then, there £180, cheapest 640mb version is £240 :(
