I used Rivatuner and for normal use I have set a very mild over clock.

My question is with the fan set to auto in rivatuner will it ramp up the fan if it needs it? I dont hear it increase at all and the rest of my system is silent.

I dont want to set it higher constantly.

Auto leaves it at 36% and idle temp is 56 C, load I think it gets close to 80 C.

How much better is the Accelero S1 cooler than the standard hsf?

The fan adjusts when it hits a certain degree. I think? I thought thats the whole point of it being on auto.

My temps on the BFG 512 card are lower than yours idle is 45 and max is 60. I have not OC'd it as it was bought Overclocked in the first place.

well its like this, s1 passivly cooled hits around 50 - 60

s1 with a very quiet 120mm fan idle 41-43 (for me)

s1 with 2 120mm fans, idle 36 full load during crysis 53c edit: thats with the card clocked at 740/1850/1950


using the stock cooler, during crysis it hits 93c

Sure auto fan is abysmal on these cards to say the least.
Perhaps set to say 50% fixed and try that before voiding your warrenty to fit the S1

50% is too noisy for me and can be heard over everything else.

I have set it to 45%, idle is now 50 C. trouble is now with it on manual it wont ramp up if it needs it will it?

Any better progs for fan control?

When I say mild OC its 701/1752/1992
 
Just to see what difference the rest of my fans made I cranked them all up, here are temps with 3 x Sharkoon SE 2000, 1 x Lian Li and 7v and 12v

7v fans

mine seems to be idle at 73c with the auto fan control... is this bad or okay will it cool it more in games; slightly worried...
 
hmm seems when playing crysis that it never goes above 82c keeps it at that; have emailed bfg anyway and asked
 
i run my 8800gts (512mb) @800,2010,1100. in games fan is set at 50%, if im running 3d mark 06 fan is on highest possible, cant complain over 13000 in 06:)
