I have finally got my rig up and running after endless problems, but now vista wont recognise my graphics card, and wont even allow me to use the setup CD for either it or the mobo. Any ideas?

Using a Asus P5N32 SLI Premium mobo and have a XFX 8800 GTS graphics card. It says im using onboard graphics, and cannot see how to turn this off to allow use of my 8800!!!

Ahhhhh vista, try it on xp (dualboot)

As for drivers, try drivers from nvidia site and asus site instead of using old cd ones, i dont think that mainboard has onboard gfx so i don't think you can disable anything...

Once done, and drivers installed will the poxy thing recognise my 8800 or am I going to get even more wound up with it!

Cannot access the net on it yet as cannot remember where the missus put the broadband install CD.

Download newest vista x64 drivers on your current pc, burn on cd, install on your new pc from cd?

Sorry, should have been more specific. I have burnt to disc, and will transfer across. Once done, will it then recognise my 8800?

Open the sertup.exe for chipset drivers 1st, install, once done repeat by openign thw file with gfx card drivers, follow the setup.

After that it sohuld be done.

hi

i had the same problem on my new build with vista and the 8800gts

i turned everything on and it was using my onboard graphics as it would not detect my card,so i just installed new latest x64 drivers and it now seems to recognise it :)

i think it sometimes helps if the pc is online especially with vista ,so it can update everything?
