I need a little nudge in the right direction...

I want a GFX upgrade from my 7800gtx, however, I only have a 19" TFT (1280x1024).

Should I go for the GTS or the GTX?

Of course I love a good frame rate and ideally with all the aa/af malarky, will i see any benefit in the gtx?

Cheers for your help :)

I would be inclined to go with the gts as it can be had for £320.

I personally would not be able to justify spending £400+ on a graphics card.

However if you have the money just go for it. I think you will be happy with both but obviously the gtx is faster.

arnt the 8800 series really designed for 1600 = resolutions?? if so i think that that card may be a bit overkill unless your going to upgrade your monitor soon

At that res I would go for the GTS and clock it!

However the GTX is quite abit faster and if you are thinking of upgrading the monitor soon then maybe look at the GTX.

Both are fantastic cards.

Personally im going for the GXT at the end of the month, it may sound stupid because im using crt monitors still but my native res is 1600x1200 and I wanna run my games etc at that res with everything on.

When I get some more pennys (because thats all I will have left after getting a gtx) I plan on getting on of the BenQ FP241W 24" Widescreen HDMI/HDCP LCD HD Monitor so something of similar spec.

thing is most HD TV run 1280x720 or similar *mine runs slightly above that, which means that the GPU is barely stressed under gaming because the res is low...i dont think there are many games out to annihalate the 7800GTX at the moment...

No-one mentioned using a hdtv for a display. If you are on about the benq that is a monitor and will run at 1920 x 1200 so its pretty heavy on the gfx.

Yup that monitor's great proper 1080p HD support and 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) Optimum Resolution :D sure would beat the hell out of my old 21" crt's

You can overclock the GTS but you can't add more Stream Processors.....

How do you know it won't be unlockable?

Personally I've bought a GTS and saved £150, any sign of it struggling and I'll pick up another (should probably be £200 by then) and SLI them.

They are laser cut, nvidia stopped gpu modding some time ago with laser cutting gpu internals to cripple cores so there is no possible way to unlock.

The GTX can be had for £390 and for a mere £70 more you get a lot more performance. The GTS isn't worth it for what you get imo. :)

Pointless to get a new card for that monitor imo, buy another to make full use of it.

Yeah I didn't notice his res... may as well just buy the cheapest 512MB 7900GTO/X1900XTX you can and then wait till Q1 '07 for the DX10 cards to come down in price.

My advice would be to get a new monitor with the money :)

And stick with your current card, and then in the future, Sell your current card and put the money towards a nice new DX10 compatible card in the future, when the prices are nice and low...er :)

Inno3D m8, was a bargain :D

Will be running my 32" Sammy at 1360x768 res but with lots of AA ;)

thats the rez my screen does too, but need 4xAA on all games otherwise the jaggies stick out a lot. with gts and at that rez 16xAA should be easy.
