8800GTS overclocking, stock

How far can I push the BFG 8800GTS 640Mb whilst staying with the stock cooler? I'm picking up somewhere round the 650Mhz core, 1000Mhz RAM on the 'net, but that isn't specifying what cooling is going in to it.

BFG ship it overclocked to 550Mhz from the stock 500Mhz as is, so the stock cooler *must* be pretty decent.

It depends, they're all different. Just push it to within an inch of its life and knock it back a bit, job done.

Mine does 625/2000 using stock cooler. No change in fan speed.

Turn the fan speed up from 60% to 100% and you will get a nice overclock with not too bad temps

Use riva tuner to increase the gfx fan speed

Sitting at 650/2000 - very nice increase. Temps are high, but I know these cards get hot anyway...3Dmark06 score has jumped 300 points!
