My lads PC started to crash while playing online he would reboot and everything seemed fine untill he started to play COD4 then same thing it would freeze he couldn't even get to his desktop. After checking his system everything looked ok so he decided to uninstalled the graphics driver and then reinstalled the (190.62 WHQL) rebooted and then got this 
He told me the only thing he did recently was upgrade the drivers from v180.48 to v190.62. I checked the temps and they seemed fine also the fan was spinning ok with no strange noises. I replaced it with a spare ATI 4870 and his system seems back to normal I guess the card just packed in purchased it March 2007 brand new off a certain fleamarket...............new I should have gone to Overclockers
