Posting this on behalf of a friend.

He had problems with BF2 where certain parts of the map were black (sand areas in the distance), then we tried stressing the card with atitool where we run it for 20 mins and no artifacts or errors.

Then he bought MOH Airborn played for a couple of hours yesterday and was fine, now played today its freezing (pause for 10 secs then plays ok) so done stress test again with atitool and now it saying kernal driver not found, you need a device driver to communicate with this card.

He was running the Nvidia beta drivers for bioshock so ive told him to use the latest Nvidia drivers and hes testing that for now so see what happens.

The atitool is still complaing about the kernal driver after the new drivers were installed.

His system spec

E6600 @ 3.2ghz
4gb of geil ram ULL @ 800mhz
Gigabyte P965-DS3P latest bios
Corsair 620W
Vista 64

CPU temps don't go above 40Ddeg on full load with Orthos
GFX card temps at idle 58deg / Load after 20 mins with ati tool 79 deg (measured with rivatuner)

The system is about 3 months old.

He has run the Vista memory diagnostics tool and everything is fine.

I have advised him to run orthos for a minimum of 12hrs to make sure its not the over clock.

Hi

Just an idea, remove all nvid drivers. Then open c drive find folder nvid remove folder display drivers only. Down load nvid beta drivers (20th August) and reinstall. Hopefully that will resolve the issue. Turn off the O/c tool and re run the card under normal conditions that may resolve the issue

I have not used that o/c tool so i am unable to comment any further regarding that issue.

Who is the manufacturer of the card?

They do and depending on the Vendors Bios, the Threshold at which Core hits Slowdown could be 110C-115C, or more.

That does not mean you want to run near that temp and somethjing is wrong if you do hit them temps with cooling or airflow of your case etc. (too many variables).

I have a BFG 8800GTS 640 OC flashed to OC2. It was getting very very toasty when loaded, so I made a few changes to my case cooling, most notably, placing a TT Cyclo PCI Cooler above the card drawing heat out, and a Antec Spot Cool hovering over the card blowing fresh air into it. This has made a big difference to the temps now. Before I was seeing well into the 90's, now it never goes over 75 or so (diode temp)

As for the issues with MOHA, everyone is having issues with it. It seems that it really pushes your system and will bring it down if there are any weeknesses. I had to lower my memory timings from 4-4-4-15 to 5-5-5-15 in order for it to run. Before doing so it would crash every 5-10 mins, now I can play from start to finish without a problem.
