Hey guys, can i just ask what temps your 8800's idle at, it isn't really warm in my room at the moment but my gfx is at a blistering 78'c according to ntune,

I also don't think airflow is much of a problem in my case as my cpu is currently at 38'c,

I am getting pretty frequent lockups too could this be the cause?

Thanks

get RivaTuner202 and turn the fan to 90% and see how you get on.

also take the side of your case off and see if that helps.

lets us know what happens

I turned the fan up to max and it dropped the temps down to 69'c, the only problem is that it is stupidly noisy

Then i took the side off the case and this droped the temps even further to 58'c

I am actually thinking of getting the dremel out and making a hole in the side panel of my pc to pop in a 80mm fan to blow directly onto the gfx card,

Will this help? an 11'c drop just by removing the side of the case indicates to me that air coming from the side is pretty benificial, i think it may be because there are no fan slots that low down in my case (the antec p160)

My idle temp is ~65C and load is ~82C, I have the fanspeeda ta default and under load the fanspeed is automatically increased, I do not have stability issues at all so I don't know if that is the cause of your lockups.

It says GTX fitting only so did you have any bother getting it to fit your GTS?

Do you get any improvement in overclocking?

And to the thread mine runs to 80C under load but it is overclocked. :D

Doesn't seem to do it any harm. The critical meltdown temerature is something ridiculous like 129C on these cards so unless the card now doesn;t lock up with your lower temperatures then that wasn't the problem.

I have configured Rivatuner to turn up the fan speed if it gets too warm too. But at the moment from a boot up and just browsing the internet, no games the temp is 58c. At load (alt tabbing out whilst playing FEAR on max) i seen it at around ~74C. Never seen it go above that in games.

But after i play games for awhile, it stays at around 65C idle.
