I have the oppitumity of getting a brand new leadtek 8800gts 512 for £50 but upon trying it out it wont fit.The card is a dual slot cooler type and the pink cable that goes from my harddrive to my motherboard gets in the way.so my question is can i move the cable to one of the other hd plugs numbered 1-6(it is currently in sata 1) or is there any other way round this as £50 for a gts is hard to turn down.

Just buy it regardless, worst case scenario you sell it for more on an auctionsite and make easy money.
Oh, and yes im pretty sure you can move it to any other sata port.

Speaks the truth! :D

TBH, you can probably use another of the sata ports.

Just move it to one that allows you to fit the card and power the pc up.

If it boots into windows then you're good to go! :)

Yer you can fit it to another sata plug, just check in the bios that the motherboard boots to that hard drive.

you dont say what motherboard you have but try it in one of the other plugs, and try and boot windows. if not you can get sata (harddrive) cables with a right handed connector that fits under the GTS.

*wow 3 replies already - must type quicker*

Im sorry i dont have a camera so no pics.In the bios it looks like this

sata channel 1 master [wd32ooaajs-00rya]
sata channel 2 master [none]
and so on

then in detailed settings this

sata channel 1 master -auto
access mode -auto

this is the same for 1-6 cheers for the help

well when you put the sata cable into the other slot on your mobo. change the access mode (i can really tell what it will say for you) but perhaps change it to boot drive or primary drive. tell me what other options there are for those two settings . will get this sorted out

Ok on the detailed settings i have

sata hdd auto detection <ENTER>

sata channel 2 master -auto or none

access mode -auto or large

Can you move the hard-drive at all to a lower slot? If you're getting that card so cheap but buy a longer sata lead !!

I think his problem is the same as mine. His sata 1 port is directly below the GTS card and you can't fit the plug in. Longer lead wouldn't help.

I moved mine to sata 4 from memory and reset the bios to match and it works fine.

Greebo could you please explain how you reset the bios, ive never really fiddled with the bios and i dont want to muck it up,cheers
