8800gtx 16x?

PCI-E is being reported as only 8x on my BFG 8800gtx via CPUZ
I thought the card supported 16x? I know my board will support 16x as its the DFI UT P45 T2RS model

Any ideas why its only at 8x and not 16x

I know on some DFI P45 boards, the lanes were 'hardwired' to a 8x. Though I have only read that about the matx boards.

Edit:- Google says it should be x16, with slot are you running it in since slot 3 is 8x?

The top slot on the board, nearest the CPU

Is there another way I can check the speed? Maybe CPUZ is having a bad day

8800GTX definitely supports 16x PCI-e lanes... I have used my 8800GTX on 4 different AM2 mobos in the past, and it would always run at 16x...

Yep ^^ GTX deffo works on 16x......must be mobo related

Do you have a PCIe card in any of the other PCIe slots? if so that may force the port down to 8 lanes.

Another possibility is dust in the slot or a bad connection on one of the lanes.
