I have sitting beside me new a brand new Hiper PSU that I bought around 6
months ago :(

I am looking to build a new rig just after X-mas and all seem to see is horror
stories about this PSU.

so I am wondering

1.How many folk using this to power a 8800GTX system without issues (or
fires).

2. Is it worth taking the risk ?

3. Is this PSU more likely to fail and take out other equipment than any
other.

And lastly what would you recommend if I was to get another PSU.

A thread like this in the gfx forum atm as I posted there, you only ever hear about the bad things chances are yours will be fine, but I dont blame you for being worried about it..I would be :eek:
 
Have you looked around webpages that give you recommend PSU's with the card?

I have a X1900XT and even a Hiper 580 would be just on the acceptance level of running that. From what I can see the 8800GTX is a beast of a card, so I would imagine it requires a bit more juice.

You shouldn't have much problem offloading that PSU should you want to (I recently got rid of a Hiper 480W) - but I personally would want something with a bit more grunt.

Usually Enermax are the recommended PSU brand - but I think so long as you buy a relatively popular branded one, you should be fine.
 
I seen a few thinks about it being unreliable but I dont know much about them but seeing how unreliable they are why not sell it and get one that people havent had problems with it.
