Could it be the CPU thats bottlenecking my fps ?? Jus im gettin like 120fps and i know it **** be a lot more as my mate gets like 250+

Any help would be great, even a few links to bits ? :D Quad Core/Motherboard ??

Ummm well these the same settings as your m8 has? I run CSS when I ever play it with 16xQCSAA/16xAF at 1680x1050, at those settings all high I get like 160-180fps average in CSS Stress Test.

Your m8 does have the advantage in the CPU department though, its a faster CPU that C2D E6600. and your m8 has an 8800GTX right?

Im not quite sure what his settings are ill ask him inabt.

What do u think i should do then? Maybe Quad Core ? My mother board is a 940 Socket.. Or new motherboard ? Im stuck :( lol

In the source stress tests a core 2 CPU gets massively higher performance than a similiarly clocked AMD X2... dunno if thats enough to make the difference.

EDIT: 120fps is perfectly playable... I don't see its worth upgrading stuff if you get 100+ fps in the games you play...

I know 120fps is playable, but its not exactly what i wanted when i paid for the 8800GTx lol .. as my old 7600GT wasnt far off that. It doesnt run crysis properly either - :(

Try running 3D Marks 06 and see what your score is? have you seen your friends score for yourself - maybe hes bsing... tho if its not far off your 7600GT something is wrong... should be a LOT faster than that.

I dont think he is tbh, he doesnt run everything on highest settings so its possible ... Im jus download that 3DMarks 06 now ... Ill post up my score in a min :)

*Edit* 580mb lol thought it was gunna be a small download

Well you gotta compare like for like - same settings... if I drop everything to low I get 300+ but if they are all on high its more like 150 IIRC... thats with a 7950GX2 which is a bit slower than the GTX.

EDIT: Just been trying it with same settings as yours - except filtering is on 16x AF and I get 240-300fps running around an empty server and 180+ on a well populated server... so your fps is low for a GTX with those settings... even limiting the CPU to 1600MHz (E6600) I don't drop down as low fps as yours.

See, there is something wrong then :( It's gotta be something bottlenecking it ? .. Could you price up a good motherboard with quad core ? I dont know a great deal about cpu's Thanks

If you wanna throw money at it...

Depends how much you want to spend but a Gigabyte P35-DS3R and a Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 would be cost effective (note you will need DDR2 RAM not sure if yours is or not) and very good performance... alternatively the Abit IP35 and asus formula boards seem to be help in good regard... personally I've had better luck with gigabyte.

On the CPU tests fps on mine range from 0-3fps.

What was your 3DMark score?

Jus done it whilst eating my tea ...

My score is 7755, shall i look at anything else on the site ?

Seems abit low.

With an AMD 64 3700+ single core @ 2.8Ghz and an 8800GTS 640 @ 650/2.2 I got around 7300 so you should be getting 10000+ I would think.

That in XP?

I dont know, it should be fine really, try fresh install of windows XP and update to the latest drivers.
