Have tried this PCI-E 8800 GTX 768mb DDR3 card in two computers with the same problem.

PC powers on but no signal is displayed on the monitor.

I had to use the same PSU with each PC but the PSU hasn't given me any problems before.

Dead GFX card?

What is the PSU you are using? I expect it's the PSU or the card as you've ruled out everything else.

You can buy molex to 6pin pci-e cables for peanuts.. test that card in the other unit with a separate PSU. That will eliminate the PSU.

Failing that, check you PSU rails are within the acceptable tolerances. If they, that it's conclusive that it's the card.

Well that wouldn't rule out the PSU as that one might not be up to the job either.

What's the rest of your system Tesla? Including the makes and models of the two PSUs.

Might pay to try the other DVI output on the card, unplug anything that's not required to boot, hard drives, DVD drives etc and see if that helps.

it's a separate PSU in a separate system. If the said PSU is at least 400w then the test should be fine, which is all we are doing here. As I said, failing that he can check the PSu using a multimeter to ensure that it isn't the PSU that's causing him grief.

I am visiting the parents tonight, I think the spare cables are in the attic there so will pick them up.

One PSU is a Hiper 650W the other an Antec modular 500W. It's the Hiper I have used twice.

Both DVI outputs give the same result.

It's looking more like a dead card then. Check the contacts on the cards edge connector.

What make is the 8800GTX? Might still be under warranty.

Same problem happended to me, i got the same card as you. I had to use a 600Watt psu to power

Another problem i had was the card wasn't sitting correctly, make sure you check there is nothing under the card forcing it out of the PCI slot.

Either that sometimes no screen can mean any part of your PC isn't working.

Hope that helps.

he has tested it in two different pc's, although we are assuming that both pcs were working before he tried using this card.

If you get the same problem using separate PSUs that it is most definitely the Graphics Card.

Sounds like the exact same problem I had a while back with my BFG 8800GTX OC.....one speedy RMA later and all was fine (BFG rock !)
