I currently have a HIS ATI X1900XT with the IceQ3 cooler so the card is relatively quiet.

Can anyone that had one of these cards and moved to a nvidia 8800 GTX let me know what the comparable noise levels are like ? I'm thinking of changing so I can run everything at the native res of my old Dell 2405, but noise is still quite important.

i had tht exact iceq3 his x1900xt 512mb card and i have jsutrecently upgraded to an 8800gtx. The noise levels are quieter on the gtx but the card runs a lot hotter

Thanks for the replies. That sounds good.

PESolution....How do you find it compared to the 1900XT ?

well i went from an overclocked x1900xt which gave me 6.9k 3dmark06 to this card which with my current overclock gives me 11.9k 3dmark06. It is an absolute beast in comparison :D you wont be dissapointed im sure :) The only thing i dont like about my upgrade is the fact that in load after an hour or two of gaming my gpu rises to 79-81 degrees i think. This greately increases the temp of the air inside my case which also affects the cooling of my processor rising it by ~10degrees. However i don't care about heat it's only numbers... ;)

Supreme commander for one hour and still cant hear the 8800GTX, amazing and I had no headphones :)

I dont think the fan even went any faster....
