just installed my new 8800GTX, installed the new drivers from site, 97.44, cant seem to get the old style control panel, only get the launch page rubbish. Have tried coolbits 2 and still no access.

any ideas?

Hi. It is still there, but some of the new image options like the Enhance In Game AA (CSAA) aren't available in the old panel. You also have to enable it through the registry. I have been playing around with things since i got my GTS and have found its best to install the latest drivers (97.44 i think) and then use something like RivaTuner to oc the card etc.

I do agree tho, the new panel isn't the nicest thing to use in the world with its massive icons, so i also enable classic navigation pane in the view menu.

open regedit

navigate to,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies

change these values:
ContextUIPolicy
CplGroupUIPolicy
TaskbarUIPolicy

all to 3, close regedit and your done, best of both worlds.

Actually, the new CP is ok when you get used to it. You need to install nTune to enable the 'Performance' features in the CP, and then you'll have access to temps, fan speed, and clocks.

No it isnt, there is a huge amount missing and it is still very unrealiable, the fact you have to install ntune (which is a real dodgy app) to get temp reading is a joke, simple regestry edit is a much better solution, imo.

Will that allow me to use coolbits too on the 97.44s? :) as ntune is pap...

i prefer rivatuner for managing 3d settings and monitoring temps. was never a fan of the nvidia control panel....especially not the new garbage

I wouldn't say there's a 'huge' amount missing, I haven't missed anything other than "Max frames to render ahead". However, reverting to the old CP means you can't select the new AA modes or settings, which is a much bigger loss.
